  • Jane Liu
    Founder and General Partner
    簡介 Introduction

    Jane Liu is the Founder and General Partner at ForMED Ventures. She brings over 35 years of successful experience in operations and investment in medtech sector to the ForMED team.

    Jane is also the founder and chairman of New Deantronics. She founded New Deantronics in South San Francisco in 1985, which is a global medical device developer and manufacturer with R&D, manufacturing operations and incubation center in both Taiwan and the United States. Under Jane’s leadership, New Deantronics has grown into a multi-faceted corporation and becomes a strategic partner to 3 of the 5 largest medtech companies in the world, offering solutions to medical device industry globally including design, development, manufacturing, packaging, EO sterilization, regulatory and other support services.

    In 2015 Jane founded ForMED Ventures and Tai-tech Ventures, to realize her vision of helping medical device startup companies. ForMED is an independent venture capital firm investing globally in early-stage life science ventures, while TAI-Tech operates as the New Deantronics’ corporate venture arm that assists early-stage medical device companies in Taiwan to accelerate their development by collaborating with New Deantronics.

    Jane holds a BA in Law from Fu Jen University and an MBA from the University of San Francisco. She is an active member of APEC and numerous Business Leadership Organizations in Taiwan. She is also actively involved in philanthropic activities in Taiwan, contributing more than 20M NTD to local hospitals, and more than 1M NTD to local charities.

    簡介 Introduction

    Simon joined ForMED Ventures in 2016 as a Senior Associate. He became the Managing Director of Auxilium MedTech Fund in 2017, where he consummated a venture capital fund of USD$18.1M investing in early-staged medtech startups from U.S., and Israel. Simon has over 18 years of experience operating and investing in medtech industry. Prior to his investor career, Simon worked in medical device industry as an engineer and project manager in the U.S. and Taiwan. He started his career at a medtech startup, Sontra Medical, that was founded by Dr. Rober Langer, a legendary MIT professor, and he led the proprietary technology development programs at New Deantronics, a major, reputable medical device manufacturer in Taiwan.

    Simon is a board member of Tingo Medical, and serves as a Board Observer for Javelin Medical, Triple Jump, Applaud Medical, Eximis Surgical, Maxwell Biomedical, and Advanced NanoTherapies. Simon is also a committee member of government sponsored entities that facilitate collaboration between global medtech companies and Taiwanese industries. In addition, he is also a mentor and speaker for various local Taiwanese startup programs and events.

    Simon graduated with bachelors of Electrical Engineering and Japanese from University of Queensland and a Master in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University. He is currently studying Executive MBA at National Taiwan University. Simon has been a charity volunteer with Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation since college.

  • Michael Blomeyer

    簡介 Introduction

    Mr. Blomeyer (Mike) is a Partner at ForMED Ventures. He has 45 years of experience in medtech sector gained through operating, managing, business formation, and branding strategies.

    Mr. Blomeyer is also the President of New Deantronics and E Surgical, medical device companies with operations in Taiwan and the U.S.. He spent several years with Beckman Instruments in California. He was with Hewlett Packard Medical for 20 years, including leading the formation of the Asia Pacific business in the 1980’s and 90’s. He was part of the first HP team to establish operations in China, including a manufacturing joint venture in Qingdao. He served as CEO of Quinton Instruments from 1998 to 2001, then began consulting with PE firms in Asia seeking investment opportunities in the U.S. He has lived in multiple U.S. locations as well as Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan. He currently divides his time between Taiwan and Nevada.

    He joined the New Deantronics Group in 2002 and has been integral to New Deantronics evolution to a multi-faceted global medical device company through establishment of new companies, branding strategies and technology acquisitions. Mr. Blomeyer serves on the Board of companies in the U.S., Taiwan, and Israel.

    Mr. Blomeyer has lead fund raising activities for charitable healthcare projects in China, India, Indonesia, Niger, and the U.S. He is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton, and the Harvard Graduate School of Business Executive Program. He served four years in the U.S. Army in Korea, Japan, and several U.S. locations.

  • Ethan Hsieh

    簡介 Introduction

    Ethan joined ForMED Ventures as an Associate in 2022.

    Prior to joining ForMED, Ethan worked for BE Capital as an Associate where he managed a portfolio of over 15 companies including Taiwan and U.S. medtech startups. Ethan also served as a medical supervisor for MicroPort supervising its clinical trial operations in the area of neuro-intervention devices. He has proctored close to three thousand procedures in Europe and Asian Pacific, and facilitated cross-border product licensing transactions by completing regulatory filing and seeking pre-market approval from Chinese authority. During his time with MicroPort he also led market and business development efforts for product launches in Europe and Asian Pacific markets.

    Ethan graduated from the laboratory of INSERM and received his Master of Science in Neuro Science from University of Lille. He also has a Master degree in Tissue Engineering. Ethan is the first author of a Transfusion Journal publication on viral inactivation system for vaccine production.
